(Doral, FL) - Florida Sen. Rick Scott held a special hearing on aging in Doral Thursday fighting against scammers who target vulnerable seniors.
Scott, who chairs the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging, is working with law enforcement to combat sophisticated fraud schemes that rob retirees of their savings and dignity.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff and the CEO of the Florida Bankers Association joined Scott in today's hearing to educate seniors about the dangers of AI-deep fakes, cryptocurrency theft and robocalls threatening arrest.
Senator Rick Scott reminds older Floridians to "never let urgency override common sense" preventing them from becoming an easy target.
Scott says, “Our seniors are being relentlessly targeted by organized, international scams, many of which are run by foreign entities stealing billions from hardworking Americans every year." He adds, "Fraud prevention isn’t just a financial issue, it’s a matter of national security and dignity for older Americans."
