(Starke, FL) - The state of Florida will not be executing two death row inmates in one day next week.

Governor DeSantis has withdrawn the death warrant for 74-year-old William Lee Thompson, canceling his execution scheduled for 6 p.m. on October 13th - his was to be the second of the day.

Thompson suffers from heart disease, dementia, and sepsis. Last month, DeSantis temporarily stayed Thompson’s execution due to concerns about his mental capacity, but the Florida Supreme Court ruled he was good to go for lethal injection. His attorney's requested an evaluation which is no longer necessary.

He was convicted of the 1976 murder of 23 year old of Sally Ivester in North Miami.

The execution of James Robertson is still scheduled for the 13th will still take place at noon. He is sentenced to death for a 2008 murder.
