Tampa, FL - Tampa has been selected to host the 2029 College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship at Raymond James Stadium.

According to the CFP Management Committee, the championship game will take place on Monday, January 22, 2029, marking Tampa’s second time hosting the event.

The decision makes Tampa only the fourth city to host the CFP title game more than once, having previously hosted the championship in 2017.

The announcement was made by College Football Playoff Executive Director Rich Clark, who noted that Tampa has consistently proven itself as a strong venue for major national sporting events.

The selection follows a trend of rotating the championship among cities with modern stadiums and established sports infrastructure.

Tampa’s track record with large-scale events such as the Super Bowl and previous CFP championship contributed to its successful bid.

City officials and the Tampa Bay Sports Commission are expected to begin preparations well ahead of the 2029 season.

Raymond James Stadium, home to the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, seats more than 65,000 fans and has undergone several upgrades since it last hosted the CFP final.

The 2029 game is projected to generate a significant economic boost for the region, bringing tens of thousands of visitors to the area.

The 2029 championship will follow previously announced host cities including Las Vegas in 2027 and New Orleans in 2028.
