California Governor Gavin Newsom is smoothing things over with actress Halle Berry after she blasted him for twice vetoing a menopause health bill.
On Wednesday, in a speech at the New York Times' DealBook Summit, Berry said Newsom "won't be governor forever" and shouldn't be president. Hours later, his office released a statement saying the governor admired Berry for her position on this critical issue and that he vetoed the bill because it would have raised healthcare costs for millions of women and working families.
Thursday, his team said the menopause proposal is in next year's budget, and that Berry just didn't know it before her speech.
TMZ quotes other sources who say Halle's speech pushed Newsom to speed up announcing the new menopause bill sooner, rather than in January, when he addresses the budget.
