Lightning Fall To Sabres In OT

The Buffalo Sabres (28-28-4) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (32-24-6) 3-2 in overtime on Thursday night at Amalie Arena.

The Lightning got on the board first when Brayden Point scored on the power playat the 8:12 mark in the first period. Alex Tuch answered with a goal for Buffalo that tied the game 1-1. That would be the score until Mitchell Chaffee scored at the 17:18 mark of the second period to give Tampa Bay a 2-1 lead.

The Sabres rallied with a power play goal from Tage Thompson at the 11:33 mark of the third to tie the game 2-2. The game would remain tied and head into overtime, when Rasmus Dahlin scored to lift Buffalo to the second point and the victory.

Andrei Vasilevskiy went 20-of-23 in net for Tampa Bay, while Brandon Hagel saw his point streak snapped at fourteen games.

The Lightning are remain at home and will host the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night - tipoff from Amalie is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Sunday evening.
